Anjuman e Mohammedi (Education), Chennai had organized a program on career counseling.

Anjuman e Mohammedi (Sports), Chennai had organized a program on awareness of sports and physical fitness at Taheri Hall, on Sunday, 8th of April 2012 at 10.30 am. Pamphlets were distributed in the market about this program and also sms were sent from jamaat office about this program and inviting all momeneen and momenaat to attend, and we expected around 300 people to attend. But only around 100 came for the presentation.

We had invited experts in the fields of fitness, sports, cycling and also a Yoga instructor to give their presentation. The program started at around 11.00 am with Tilawate Quran majeed, followed by marsiya and maatam. Welcome address was done by Mustansir bhai Lohandwala.

The first presentation was by Dr. Subhash Rao, who gave a power point presention about the general state of fitness in our cities and the reasons behind the increasing ‘life style’ diseases like Diabetes, high BP, Cholestrol, Diabetes, obesity ets.. it was very informative and we learnt a few things about how to make our lives stress free and what methods to adopt to keep healthy and fit.

Next we had Mr. Prasad, who is a fitness freak to say the least! He is also a trainer and has trained a few actors and sports persons and also an expert in gym equipment and an ardent cyclist too. He explained the importance of maintaining a ‘fit’ body for our day top day life. He also demonstrated a few stretching exercises and made all the people who had attended to stand up and do a few exercises for the neck, abdomen and arms. It was a very interactive session with queries being answered and we all got a lot of tips and guidance on how to keep ourselves fit.

The third presentation was by Mr. Nav who is an expert cyclist. His was a motivational and pep up talk about how he came to become a cycling enthusiast and also a dealer of sports cycles. He has two bicycle showrooms in the city managed by his own wife and he encouraged us to take cycling not just as a sport but also for recreation and a means of transport.

Last we had a presentation on Yoga and its benefits by Mannan bhai bagdadi. He explained the various ‘Pranayams’ and breathing exercises which can relieve stress and also demonstrated a few by doing it and made us do a few breathing exercises too.
Finally we made an announcement for our future programs, ie., walking, cycling and yoga and invited people to register themselves for each at the venue itself. We received around 20 reristrations in each category.

The program came to an end at around 1.00 pm with vote of thanks by one of our members Hassan bhai Lokhandwala, followed by Vazifatus shukr and National Anthem.

The program was a success in the sense that it was well organized and very informative and also motivating. The only negative aspect was the attendance which was very poor.

We hope Anjuman e Mohammedi will come up with some innovative methods to make our community more active in sports and physical fitness. And We the members of the newly formed Sports committee will also work hard Insha Allah towards this goal.

We pray that Allah Taala give a very long and healthy life to our beloved Aqa and Moula, Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS) and we also pray that we the humble followers of Aqa moula make ourselves healthy and fit to be able to do khidmat of Moula in such a manner that it pleases Him and we can take his doa and blessings.
